How many questions will be asked in IELTS Speaking Part 1?

In IELTS Speaking Part 1, the examiner will typically ask you between 9 and 12 questions spread across three different topic areas. The first topic is always a ‘Foundation Topic’—either about your work, your studies, or your hometown. After that, you will face two more topics from a massive pool of everyday subjects, like hobbies, food, or even unpredictable wildcards like mirrors or shoes. Since you have about 4 to 5 minutes for this section, you should aim to speak for roughly 15 to 30 seconds per question. To hit this ‘Goldilocks Zone’ perfectly every time, use the A.R.E. Framework™ (Answer, Reason, Example) and practice consistently with the SpeakPrac app to build your spontaneous reaction skills.
